Norman L. Hammer, 100, the last of fourteen children, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2019 at Penacook Place. He was the husband of the late Blanche A. (Riley) Hammer.
Norman was educated in Haverhill, and worked in the city’s shoe industry at Hartman Shoe Company. He then joined the J.H. Smith Grain Co., and Rowell Motors in their reconditioning department. In 1951 Norman opened his own business, Hammer’s Garage, which he operated until 1970. Following the closing of his business he worked as Wholesale Manager for McGregor & Smith Automobile Co. until 1975, and Marble Motors until his retirement in 1981.
Norman is survived by his daughters, Sandra Moreau and her husband Kenneth, Nancy Noel and her husband Roland, both of Haverhill; grandson Michael Noel, and several nieces and nephews. Norman was pre-deceased by his many siblings to include the Evelyn Hammer.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 1:00 pm, in the chapel at Linwood Cemetery, 41 John Ward Ave., Haverhill.
