Winter Storm Brings School Cancellations, Snow Emergency

No school, all schools Haverhill. Day classes are also cancelled because of the weather at Whittier Vo-Tech, Methuen public schools, Pentucket Regional School District, Timberlane Regional Schools, Greater Lawrence Technical School and Northern Essex Community College.

All this as a winter storm warning remains in effect until 10 a.m., Monday, but Wave Weather meteorologist Sean Ryan says clouds will be thinning for sunshine through the afternoon with temperatures reaching 35-40 degrees.

Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini has declared a snow emergency until noon. That means those without off-street parking must use the odd side of the street. ‪For those living in the snow emergency zone, downtown, there can be no on-street parking on any major street.

Gov. Charlie Baker said state offices will open at 11 for all non-emergency state executive branch employees. National Grid says it has brought in more than 330 external crews and more than 330 forestry crews to help restore power if necessary across New England.

UMass Lowell, including the Haverhill campus, opens at 6 p.m. This will be Pentucket Regional Schools’ first Alternative Learning Day. Teachers will prepare and communicate assignments to students and parents using email, School Loop, Google Classroom or teacher websites. Likewise, Timberlane is having an “Online Learning/Blizzard Bag Day.”

Plaistow Town Hall opens at noon. Stay with 97.9 WHAV FM for additional cancellations.
