This Week’s Radio Drama: Before It Was on Television

Many radio scripts eventually made their ways to television. Tonight’s “Gunsmoke” play, “Jesse,” first aired on CBS radio Aug. 29, 1953. It would later be reused on the television series four years later. William Conrad, left, was the original Matt Dillon. He is pictured with theme song composer and orchestra leader Rex Khoury and Norman Macdonnell, co-creator of the western series.
