If you ask Kathy Diamontopoulos, beauty is all around Haverhill. After all, a snapshot she captured during a walk at Trinity Stadium last summer just won the “People’s Choice” award in a regional photo contest sponsored by the Essex National Heritage Commission.
Delivering on the contest’s request to capture the living landscapes that make the Essex County special, Diamontopoulos will see her winning photo—selected by social media users—on display at the Merrimack Valley Planning Commission office, 160 Main St., for the next year.
The shutterbug tells WHAV she often finds beauty on display in Haverhill’s Riverside neighborhood, where she took the photo titled “Monarch and Thistle.”
“The stadium has so many things to offer. It’s a beautiful place to walk, bring your dog, play sports and find wildlife. I always try to bring my camera wherever I go because you never know what you may find,” she told WHAV, adding that she considers photography a hobby and is drawn to taking pictures of wildlife. “Haverhill is a beautiful city to explore.”
In addition to the Haverhill photo exhibit, all 11 winning photographs will be displayed at the National Park Service Visitor Center in Salem during regular business hours.
