A 37-year-old Groveland man was unsuccessful in his alleged attempt to pass himself off as someone else after a traffic stop Tuesday morning.

Justin Farinato told Groveland police he forgot his license when he was pulled over at 6:39 a.m. on Main Street. The story didn’t work, Groveland Police Chief Jeffrey Gillen said, because Farinato is already known to police.

Farinato was driving a rented gray Hyundai sedan along Seven Star Road when he caught the attention of police. Officers followed him until pulling him over on Main Street, police said. Farianto was said to have told the officers he did not have his license, but gave a family member’s name as his own.

He was arrested and charged with driving with a revoked license, second offense, and giving a false name to a police officer. He was arraigned in Haverhill District Court.
