He may not be able to throw a football like Tom Brady, but in the world of Haverhill politics, Mayor James J. Fiorentini is one of the greatest of all time.
After all, as WCVB “Chronicle” anchor Shayna Seymour pointed out during a recent trip to interview Fiorentini at downtown’s Wicked Big Café, serving as the city’s top chief for eight terms’ running is almost like having six Super Bowl rings.
“You’ve been elected and re-elected and re-elected so many times,” Seymour said. “You’re kind of like the Tom Brady of Haverhill!”
“Yeah, but I can’t throw a football more than about five yards,” Fiorentini joked.
On Wednesday night’s episode of the long-running news program, Fiorentini is interviewed for an episode promoting places to go on the commuter rail line.
During his appearance—filmed Feb. 4—the mayor touts the city’s so-called downtown renaissance, telling viewers that 30 restaurants can be accessed within one mile of the Bradford and Haverhill station stops. A trip to Washington Street creative space The Switchboard is also planned, show producers tell WHAV. The episode airs locally at 7:30 p.m. on channel 5.
