PHOTO: Plaistow Driver Attempts to Navigate Winter Storm Driving Without a Tire

Plaistow, N.H. police turned a potentially dangerous situation during Tuesday night’s winter storm into a teachable moment, warning residents of the hazards of driving without proper equipment.

In a social media post, Plaistow officers described how alert motorists on Route 121’s town line between Plaistow and Atkinson called to report a vehicle that had lost a tire but continued to drive. Given the proximity to the town line, Atkinson police responded to the area and were assisted by Plaistow’s Officer Coakley, who observed and stopped the vehicle just after 6 p.m. Feb. 12.

“We are glad the driver and the motoring public were not injured in this incident. If you find yourself in a similar situation, please pull over in a safe location and call for assistance,” officers warned in their message to residents after the incident.

The driver told police he was unaware his tire fell off and out of an abundance of caution, officers chose to tow his vehicle. No citations were issued.
