Drivers set to travel on Interstate 495 northbound between exits 48 and 49 this week are advised the high-speed lane is set to close between 6 a.m.-1 p.m. to expedite road work.

The closure on Tuesday, Jan. 29 and Wednesday, Jan. 30 is the latest action taken during the state’s $90 million replacement of the highway bridges crossing the Merrimack River near Ward Hill.

SPS New England is overseeing construction, which is expected to run through spring 2022. When the project is complete, the new northbound bridge is expected to allow for up to three though lanes, one future use lane and an auxiliary lane, officials said.
