Students at Haverhill High are coming together to support members of their school community fighting cancer, and encourage locals to participate in a fundraiser night on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

In between the Haverhill-Methuen girls’ and boys’ varsity basketball games, students and faculty touched by the disease will speak in an effort to raise awareness and funds during “Blackout for Cancer” night. In addition to a check presentation to two Hillie cancer patients, the Haverhill YMCA’s Tracy Fuller also plans to detail the Y’s Corner Stone program available to local patients, survivors and their families.

Hillie merchandise specific to the event is expected to be on sale, with proceeds going to cancer patients in need.
