Dorothea E. ‘Dottie’ (Smith) Chisnall, 75, Worked for Haverhill’s Eastern Canvas

Dorothea E. (Smith) Chisnall, 75, the wife of the late Robert Chisnall, died peacefully Friday, Jan. 4 after a brief illness. The daughter of John and Mary Smith, Chisnall was one of six siblings and attended Saint James grammar school and St. James High School. She worked at the former Western Electric in North Andover and Eastern Canvas in Haverhill for many years before her retirement to become a homemaker. In her later years, she enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and grand dogs at her home, where she also hosted countless parties by her backyard pool for friends and family. Chisnall was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was loved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her sons John Chisnall and fiancee Wendy of Haverhill, Robert Chisnall Jr. and partner Victoria of Hampton, N.H., a daughter Jody Ann Plourde and husband Roland of Haverhill, three grandchildren Danielle Graham and husband Justin, Andrew Plourde and wife Gina and Connor Chisnall, all of Haverhill. She also leaves behind her brothers Richard Smith and partner Beverly, Joseph Smith, and a sister Susan Donahue and her husband Chris. She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Robert Chisnall, parents John and Mary Smith and siblings Jack Smith and Ann Azzarito.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, Jan. 8 from 4-7 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill.
