Students at Haverhill’s Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School got a welcome back from winter break from Beacon Hill Wednesday with a pep rally attended by Governor Charlie Baker and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito.

Joined by Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini, the state leaders greeted students and mingled with their school’s Wildcat mascot during an assembly in the school gymnasium. The visit also included a tour of Whittier’s new dental program area.

Thursday is Inauguration Day in the Commonwealth, with Republican Baker and Polito taking the oath of office for a second four-year term at the Statehouse.

This week’s visit follows a long-term commitment from the Baker-Polito Administration to the Whittier Wildcats.

In September 2017, the state leaders supported the school’s advanced manufacturing program with a $495,000 grant.
