The City of Haverhill is getting a major digital upgrade in 2019! After six months of behind-the-scenes work at City Hall, Haverhill’s municipal website, cityofhaverhill.org, is being overhauled for the first time in 12 years.

Under the direction of Mayor James J. Fiorentini’s Chief of Staff Allison Heartquist, the new website offers a “clean, quick and concise” overview of the city for residents and visitors alike.

“We just want it to be as easy as possible. There’s a ton of information and this is hopefully be the No. 1 resource for people who want to know where to live, about restaurants and about our downtown, for example,” Heartquist previews for WHAV.

To create the city’s new digital footprint, Heartquist worked alongside City Clerk Linda Koutoulis and outside consultant Peter Carlson of NeuEon, Inc. Revize Software Systems, a government website developer, designed and hosts the site, while photography was contributed by Alison Colby-Campbell.

Serving as a companion to the city’s two-year-old 311 constituent services program, the new website can be translated into more than a dozen languages, with residents able to apply for permits and pay bills with one click. Locals can also personalize their Nixle text and phone alert messaging options, browse municipal job listings and receive on-demand updates on local and state-funded construction projects.

The new website also prominently features a section dedicated to the Haverhill Business Portal created by state Rep. Andy Vargas and Assistant Director of Economic Development Nate Robertson.

Eventually, more than 20 city departments will contribute updated meeting agendas, contact information and blog and video content, Hartquist told WHAV.
