William N. ‘Billy’ Mercier, 63, Jaffarian Volvo Customer Service Representative

William N. “Billy” Mercier, 63, a resident of Haverhill for most of his life, died Dec. 30 at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston. Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Norman and Marie (D’Amico) Mercier of Haverhill. He attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and Haverhill Public Schools, and was a member of Haverhill High School’s class of 1974.

Mercier was employed for many years at Western Electric Co., AT&T, and Lucent Technologies and later worked as a cook at Archie’s Place, Ronnie D’s and Primo Pasta. For the past seven years, Mercier was a customer service representative for Jaffarian Volvo of Haverhill.

A lifelong member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Joseph Parish, Mercier was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Post No. 4 of Haverhill and the Haverhill Lodge of Elks and a former member of Troop 27 of the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed golfing as a member of the Saint Joseph Golf League, and bowling on leagues at Saint Joseph Bowling Lanes. He was a fan of all Boston sports teams, and was very devoted to his family.

Mercier will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his parents, Norman and Marie (D’Amico) Mercier of Haverhill, a brother and sister-in-law, Stephen A. and Andrea Mercier of Greenville, S.C., two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathryn A. and Steven Mscisz of Topsfield and Norma J. and Peter Phaneuf of Haverhill, two nephews, Christopher Mscisz and Michael Phaneuf and a niece, Jennifer Mscisz, and his aunt, Constance “Connie” Mercier of Methuen.

Relatives and friends are invited to Mercier’s life celebration to be held on Thursday, Jan. 3 from 5-8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. His funeral will be held on Friday from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial in All Saints Church, at a time to be announced. The family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
