John A. Rosatone, 83, Owned Haverhill Accounting Firm

John A. Rosatone, 83, of Haverhill died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at his home with family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Shirley (Pare) Rosatone, who predeceased him on Nov. 14, 2018. Born in Haverhill on April 23, 1935, he was the first-born child of Domenick and Clara (Gardella) Rosatone.

Rosatone’s formal schooling began in Haverhill, and he graduated from Tilton School in 1949 and Haverhill High School in 1953. Deciding to become an accountant, Rosatone enrolled in Bentley College and upon graduation, opened his practice in Haverhill’s Lafayette Square. After further schooling, he attained the status of certified public accountant and together with his beloved wife Shirley, combined forces and created a successful accounting firm in Haverhill and Seabrook, N.H.

During his early childhood years, Rosatone suffered from rheumatic fever, an illness that limited his participation in outdoor physical activities, which led to an avid interest in stamp collecting. Later, in adulthood, he and Shirley had the opportunity to travel the world, visiting the many countries he had first learned about through this childhood hobby.

In addition, Rosatone also enjoyed great food, a good drink and the wonderful times spent with family and many of their friends. They mostly enjoyed hosting excursions on their boat at Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith, N.H. Those who knew him best would agree: His greatest satisfaction was derived from working with Shirley in his offices, helping so many of his clients navigate through their financial issues. Together, they worked long, hard hours during their heavy income tax season building their business together.

In addition to his late wife, Rosatone also leaves his four stepchildren, Roderick and Beverly Schena, of Newton, N.H., Sandy Schena of Hampstead, N.H., Bryan and Donna Schena of Haverhill, and Laurie and Sam Fiorilla of Methuen. He also leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his only sibling, brother Raymond Rosatone of Haverhill. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the many caregivers that have helped take care of both John & Shirley.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the calling hours on Friday, Jan. 4 from 4-7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His funeral will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, beginning at 10 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church on Haverhill’s Lincoln Avenue. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill.
