Beatrice (Steckerl) Mehl, 97, of Haverhill, died Sunday evening, Dec. 30, at Wingate at Haverhill with her family by her side.
She was born in Haverhill on March 3, 1921, the daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Interess) Steckerl. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Mehl graduated from Haverhill High School with the class of 1939.
Mehl owned and operated J&E Antique Shop in Georgetown, and the Village Peddler in Ogunquit, Maine. She and her late husband achieved international success raising Pekinese show dogs.
She was the wife of the late Daniel Mehl who died in 1991, mother of the late Barry Mehl, Heather Kyte and Wendy Johnston and sister of the late Herman Steckler.
Her survivors include two daughters, Judith Forman and her husband Harvey of Windham, N.H., Sherry Graham and her husband Thomas of Bradford, sons-in-law Charles Johnston of Haverhill, Thomas Kyte of Milford, N.H., a sister, Anne Gilman of Salem, 11 grandchildren, Lee Graham, Rebecca Anderson, Jonathan Forman, Jamie Albertson, David Forman, Dana Forman, Jenny Garby, Courtney Johnston, Lisa Soucy, Lindsay Johnston, Corey Graham, 15 great-grandchildren, Alyssa Forman, Mya Forman, Julia Anderson, Katie Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Drew Albertson, Megan Albertson, Lauren Albertson, Ella Stux, Miles Stux, Cole Stux, Allison Locke, Emma Garby, Logan Soucy and Madison Soucy, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service took place Jan. 1 in Haverhill’s Children of Israel Cemetery. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill & Bradford.
