Dan Koh is continuing his commitment to serving residents of the Merrimack Valley—this time he’s hoping to do it a bit closer to home. The 33-year-old Andover democrat, who finished second to Lori Trahan in last fall’s Congressional primary, announced he’s running for the board of selectmen in his hometown.
In a social media post Tuesday, Koh said pursuing a seat on the local board is a natural next step.
“I’ve seen firsthand how local government can be a force for good, and I look forward to working together to make Andover the best town it can be,” Koh said. “For me, public service has always been about giving back to the community that allowed my family to live the American Dream. That’s why I ran for Congress, and although we came up just short, I’m not done trying to make a difference.”
Serving as chief of staff to Boston Mayor Marty Walsh from 2013-2017, Koh said he is running on a platform of inclusivity and a desire to make the American dream possible for all.
Andover residents head to the polls in March to elect two selectmen.
