Shirley M. (Hatfield) Bouvier, 88, Longtime St. Joseph’s School Volunteer

Shirley M. (Hatfield) Bouvier, 88, a former longtime resident of Pilgrim Road in Haverhill, died Nov. 23 in Methuen.

Born in Andover, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Bourneuf) Hatfield and was raised in Haverhill, attending St. James grammar school and graduating from St. James High School with the class of 1947.

Bouvier was primarily a homemaker, but was previously employed at Western Electric Co. and was a member of All Saints Parish. She was an active volunteer for many years at St. Joseph School as a member of the Parent Teachers Council as well as active on several committees at the former St. Joseph Parish.

She enjoyed needlework and tending her flower gardens and also enjoyed flower arranging and bird watching. She most enjoyed cooking for her family and spending summers with them on Cape Cod in West Harwich.

She is survived by her husband Francis L. Bouvier, two daughters and a son-in-law, Valorie and Raymond Masak of North Reading and Sheryll Bouvier of Haverhill, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Glenn Bouvier of Kentucky, Dean and Laurie Bouvier of Epping, N.H. and Warren Bouvier and Hitomi Shimizu of Amesbury, a sister and brother-in-law B. Ann and Robert Lovell of Methuen and a brother Paul Hatfield of Florida, four grandchildren, Leighann, Brandon and his wife Nicole, Bianca and Renee and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Hatfield.

A private family burial service was held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill on Dec. 1. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Great Lakes Caring.com. Arrangements were under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill.
