One of the RiversEdge dollar stores is no more. At the end of January 2019, the Family Dollar location at Haverhill’s 227 Lincoln Ave., is set to close for good, the company tells WHAV.

A liquidation sale is set to take place, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar company spokeswoman Kayleigh M. Painter confirmed. Without going into specifics, Painter said a store closure happens for a variety of reasons, including the sale of the property or end of a lease term. There are no plans to shutter the Dollar Tree store in the same plaza.

In July 2015, discount retailer Dollar Tree acquired all Family Dollar stores, with the combined revenue of both companies estimated in excess of $19 billion annually.

Haverhill’s RiversEdge Plaza has been a point of growth and expansion for the city in recent months. As WHAV reported last summer, construction is well underway on a freestanding Burger King restaurant that replaces a former Pentucket Bank Branch. A larger, expanded outpost for the Registry of Motor Vehicles relocated from City Hall to RiversEdge in September.
