Harriet L. (Chase) Hartford, 82, Former Employee of Haverhill’s Kenoza Manor

Harriet L. (Chase) Hartford, 82, the wife of the late Irwin D. Hartford, died Dec. 5 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen with her loving family by her side.

Born Sept. 21, 1936 in Byfield, she was the daughter of the late Ernest S. and Elizabeth (Wing) Chase. She attended Newburyport schools and was a graduate of Newburyport High School. Hartford was employed as a floor manager at Davco Manufacturing and Allen Shoe Company, both in Haverhill. She also worked as a laundress at the Kenoza Manor in Haverhill. Her family has fond memories of her as a young child, always playing hopscotch, jumping rope or other games. A devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was known for her cooking and baking and hosting all the holidays. She opened her home to all, family and friends and loved family gatherings. Hartford had a big heart and cared for all she came to know and love. She will be missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Marilyn Brown and her husband Reggie of Amesbury, Richard Chase of Shirley, Alice Fournier and her partner Norman Kennedy of Clearwater, Fla., Diana Fuller and her partner Rafael Velazquez of Haverhill, Debra Bretton of Sandown, N.H., MaryJo Alvarez and her partner James Comier of Dracut, Brenda Alvarez and her partner David Giniers of Haverhill, Darlene Chase and Laurie Grover of Haverhill, Lisa Chase and partner Jose Perez of Haverhill, Barbara Chase and partner Miguel Cuevas of Haverhill, 29 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Helen (Chase) McIntyre and her husband Ronald McIntyre, her daughter Donna Chase, five grandchildren, brothers Freddie, Raymond and Tommy; sisters Marilyn, Christine and Mary Elizabeth.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at The Salvation Army Church, 395 Main St., Haverhill on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 5-6:30 p.m. Arrangements are by the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill.
