Muriel A. (Wright) Saunders, 86

Muriel A. (Wright) Saunders, 86, of Methuen, died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 30, with her family by her side. She was the cherished wife of Albert Saunders, with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.

Saunders was born in Malden on Jan. 24, 1932, the daughter of Melvin and Esther (Small) Wright. She was raised and educated in Malden and graduated from Malden Business School. She moved to Washington, D.C. to work for the government at Bolling Air Force Base before returning home to start her family.

She enjoyed daily walks and exercise, listening to country western music and dancing with her husband. Saunders shared many happy times with family and friends, traveling to Florida, Aruba, Alaska and her summer home on Merrymeeting Lake. She was a loving, gentle and kind woman who will be greatly missed.

Her surviving family members in addition to her husband Al, include her loving children Wendy Ferreira and her husband John of Methuen, Wayne Saunders and his wife Roxanne of Rowley, Holly Jacobson and her husband Karl of Hampton, N.H., and Heather O’Brien and her husband Cory of Topsfield, grandchildren Douglas, Natalie, Kimberly, Darren, Alex, Bethany, Kristel, Kandra, Lars and James, great-grandson Henry, brother Alan Wright and his wife Virginia of Colebrook, N.H. She was the sister of the late Donald Wright and his wife Lynn.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday, Dec. 5 in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 South Main St., Haverhill, from 9-11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m.
