For the fourth year in a row, Haverhill’s Jaffarian Volvo Toyota is making sure the holidays are a bit brighter for some of the city’s children in need. This week, the River Street car dealership kicks off their holiday and toy clothing drive, with a goal of providing presents for at least 70 children residing at the Emmaus Family Shelter.

Through Dec. 12, the dealership is collecting new and unwrapped toys and art supplies, pajamas, fleece sweatshirts and winter outerwear suitable for children age 12 and under, including newborns.

“There is nothing better than seeing your children on Christmas morning when they head to the tree to open gifts—unfortunately, not every family is able to provide that. We hope to create happy memories for the children at Emmaus House this holiday season,” company CEO Gary Jaffarian tells WHAV. “Emmaus is an extraordinary partner and we are proud of their work in the community. We are excited to help them make the holidays a happier time for the children in their stead.”

This year, nearly 2,500 residents—including 1,200 children—utilized the Emmaus shelters and housing programs, which include an emergency shelter and 97 units of permanent affordable housing.

Donations for Jaffarian may be dropped off at 600 River St., Haverhill.
