A Haverhill mother is headed to court next month to answer to charges of alleged child endangerment after a Plaistow, N.H. police officer found her three young kids alone in an running car while the woman shopped at Walmart.

Plaistow Police Capt. Brett Morgan tells WHAV 33-year-old Regina Perry left her three children—ages 13 months, 2- and 3-years-old—unattended in a locked, idling car parked in the Plaistow Road shopping complex’s fire lane during the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 25. Officer Stephen Dehullu was on patrol in the area and attempted to issue a parking ticket to the illegally parked car before realizing the children were inside.

Surveillance footage from the store confirmed Perry was away from the car for nine minutes, Morgan said.

Perry was arrested and released ahead of a court appearance on Dec. 28. The children were released to their father, who met police at the scene to pick them up.
