A 63-year-old woman has died after police say she attempted to break up a family fight over the weekend in Methuen. Called to 21 Bicknell Ave., late Sunday, Methuen Police found Martina Gomez unresponsive and in “medical distress.” She was transported to Lawrence General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The Essex County District Attorney’s office tells WHAV a 23-year-old relative named Modesta Gomez has been arrested and charged with assault and battery on a person over 60 and assault and battery for assaulting two women. It is not clear how Modesta is related to Martina or the other woman who was allegedly assaulted.
More details are expected to be released at Modesta Gomez’s Monday arraignment in Lawrence District Court. Stay with WHAV.net for more on this developing story.
