A two-time national junior college track and field champion from Haverhill is among the first class of sports stars being inducted into Northern Essex Community College’s new Athletic Hall of Fame, the school announced this week.
Noelia Figueroa, one of the college’s most decorated female athletes, will be celebrated along with the 1970-1971 men’s basketball team during the Hall of Fame’s induction ceremony on Feb. 28.
To be eligible for inclusion, athletes must have either graduated from Northern Essex, furthered their education at a four-year school, or played professionally after Northern Essex, Athletics Director Dan Blair said.
