Shirley E. Rosatone, 87, Worked as Stock Broker

Shirley E. (Pare) Rosatone, 87, of Haverhill, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at her home with her entire family by her side.

Rosatone was born Oct. 20, 1931, daughter of Albert and Marie (Banville) Pare. She attended St. Joseph’s School and later attended Haverhill High School, graduating in 1949. She attended St. Joseph’s (All Saints) and later, St. John The Baptist, both in Haverhill, for many years. She was predeceased by her first husband, Francis William Schena, who passed away suddenly in 1963.

While raising her four young children on her own, Rosatone worked with her father Albert, who started the Albert Pare Brokerage Company, where she sold stocks and bonds. In the mid 1960’s she was appointed the first woman on the Boston Stock Exchange. After marrying John Rosatone in 1971 she went to work building their small accounting business into a sizeable firm that exists today in Haverhill and Seabrook, N.H. She served as a member on the Board of Albert Pare, Co., John A. Rosatone P.C. and Hale Hospital Trustees. Rosatone was also a member of the Merrimack Valley Soroptimist International at the Hale Hospital in Haverhill’s Riverside in the 1980’s.

In her later years, she spent time at their condos in Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. She enjoyed visiting local casinos and beaches, visiting with friends, having her family visit and often loved exploring famous gourmet restaurants around the world. She enjoyed spending time in her beautiful, landscaped grounds and lovely garden that she created. Rosatone often cooked French cuisine and other holiday dishes for her family, a favorite of which was her clam chowder. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, playing cards and entertaining her family and friends.

Rosatone is survived by her husband John, and her four children, Roderick Schena and his wife Beverly of Newton, N.H., Sandy Schena of Hampstead, N.H., Bryan Schena and his wife Donna of Haverhill, and Laurie (Schena) Fiorilla and her husband Sam of Methuen. She also leaves a sister, Joanne Beauregard and her husband Richard of Haverhill, her brother-in-law, Raymond Rosatone of Haverhill, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her calling hours on Monday afternoon, Nov. 19, from 3 – 6 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her funeral will be Tuesday morning, Nov. 20, beginning at 10 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. in St. John The Baptist Church, Haverhill. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill.
