Richard E. Dennehy, 83, Former Groveland Youth Sports Coach

Richard E. Dennehy, 83, of North Hampton, N.H., formerly of Groveland and Bradford, beloved husband of 61 years to Anna P. (Marino) Dennehy, passed away Nov. 12 with his loving family by his side.

Born in Bradford, he was the son of the late James T. and Ellen (Mulvaney) Dennehy. He was raised and educated in Haverhill and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1953. A graduate of Bentley College and Suffolk University, Dennehy served eight years in the United States Navy Reserves. He was employed at the former Western Electric and Lucent Technologies for over 35 years as a cost accountant supervisor. Dennehy was a longtime member of the Cedardale Athletic Club in Bradford and enjoyed many sports including basketball, tennis and golf. He coached boys little league and girls basketball in Groveland. He also served on the Class of 1953 Reunion Committee. With his wife Anna, he loved to travel to Hawaii, the Caribbean and Las Vegas. A devoted husband father and grandfather, Dennehy will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife Anna, Dennehy is survived by his children, Susan A. Dennehy of Bradford; Gary R. Dennehy and his wife Laurie J. of Hampstead, N.H.; Laurie A. Dennehy-Cyr of Kensington, NH; Paul J. Dennehy and his partner, Tammy L. Jennings of Rowley; five grandchildren, Brian Hickey, Amanda M. Dennehy; Matthew R. Dennehy; Melanie R. Cyr and Nicholas D. Cyr.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, Nov. 18 from 2-5 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services will begin on Monday at 9 a.m. at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, 395 North Broadway, Haverhill. Donations may be made in his memory to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215.
