Gloria (Healey) Ross, 87, Active With Haverhill’s Democratic City Committee

Gloria (Healey) Ross, 87, of Haverhill, died peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at her residence.

She was born in Haverhill on July 6, 1931 to the late James and Nancy (Pazzanese) Healey.

Ross was a lifelong Haverhill resident who was fond of saying that she never lived more than two miles from the house she was born in.

For 40 years she lived adjacent to Bradford College. Her home was known for the spring colors in her beloved flower gardens and also for the profusion of campaign signs that bloomed every election season. She had an avid interest in politics and at the age of 83 was named a Distinguished Democrat by the Haverhill Democratic City Committee.

Ross had a long career as an administrative assistant. Later in life she became a daycare provider. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School’s Class of 1949, and every five years she organized a class reunion.

When asked, Ross requested that her obituary say simply, “She was born, she lived, she died.”

She is survived by her son Kelly Ross and his wife Cindy Kahrs. Ross was predeceased by her son Kevin Ross and her sister Lynda Healey.

Family and friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 1 from 5-7 p.m. at the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 South Main St., Haverhill. Burial will be private at a later date in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill.
