Haverhill drivers headed through the city’s Main Street this weekend are advised that overnight paving begins Thursday, Oct. 25, temporarily changing the traffic pattern starting at the intersection of Merrimack and Water Streets.

Roadwork takes place from 7:30 p.m.-6 a.m. on Thursday, and on Sunday, Oct. 28 and Monday, Oct. 29. Paving continues along Main Street through the intersection of Winter and Summer Streets and the intersection of White and Arlington Streets to the Kenoza Avenue intersection.

Police details and signage will direct motorists through any detours.

The work is part of a $2.8 million Main Street overhaul that began last spring. Expected to wrap up this fall, the project intends to coordinate and modernize traffic signals at five of the city’s busiest intersections, along with other improvements.
