The Rosemont Street railroad crossing in Haverhill is closing for emergency repairs this Friday through Sunday and the city is urging drivers and pedestrians to plan ahead.

From Oct. 12-14, the area will be closed to traffic, with detour details clearly posted, Mayor James J. Fiorentini’s office said.

Earlier this year, Fiorentini earmarked $650,000 for a two-year revamp of what his office called the “structurally deficient” Rosemont Street bridge. Set to begin this winter and run through 2020, the project will be carried out in phases to fully demolish and rebuild the 16-foot overpass.
