An 81-year-old Andover man attempting to cut down a tree at his home briefly went into cardiac arrest after becoming pinned under the tree, officials said.

Andover Fire Rescue responded to the man’s Gray Road home Saturday afternoon at 1:20 p.m. to find him pinned face down on the ground with his left arm and leg stuck. Conscious and speaking at the time first responders arrived, the man went into cardiac arrest while he was being transported by ambulance to a medical helicopter.

Medics instead took the man to Lawrence General Hospital, where he was revived. An update on his current condition was not immediately available.
