Edward C. Comeau, 81, Former Engineer

Edward C. Comeau, 81, husband of Alice L. (Foster) Comeau, passed away Sept. 25 at Lowell General Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Born in Billerica, he was the son of the late Fredilo J. and Edith M. (Comiau) Comeau. He attended Billerica High School, where he was a gifted athlete. After graduation, Comeau entered the military, serving his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged while at Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod. Comeau was an engineer in the metal fabrication industry working at AGFA in Wilmington for many years. He was a handyman and had the ability to repair just about anything. He enjoyed all sports including recreational fishing and was an avid golfer. A devoted husband father, grandfather and great grandfather, he will be remembered as a loving family man by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his loving wife Alice, with whom he was married for 60 years, he is survived by his six sons, Edward C. Comeau Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Hampton, N.H., Richard Comeau and Wassana Driftmeyer of Haverhill, Warren Comeau and Patricia Rocco of Machias, Maine, Bryan Comeau of Bradford, Jeffrey Comeau of Haverhill, Jason Comeau and his wife Lisa of Methuen, sister Catherine St. John and her husband Brian of Raymond, N.H., brother Frederick Comeau of Nashua, N.H., 12 grandchildren Corinne, Lindsey, Andrea, Erica, Amanda, Emily, Ben, Eddy, Kassandra, Jeffrey, Peter and Lukas, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. in St. Augustine Cemetery, Lupine Road, Andover. Arrangements are by the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Joslin Diabetes Foundation, 1 Joselin Place, Boston, MA 02215.
