Updated: Haverhill Police Identify 17-Year-Old Killed in Monday Crash

Haverhill police have identified the 17-year-old who was killed in a car crash Monday night as Jordan Rankin of Haverhill.

Rankin died after a two-car crash around 9 p.m., Monday night, in the area of Crystal and Liberty Streets, just off route 97 in Haverhill. Police said the she drove a sedan, but the make and model of the cars involved were not immediately known.

Rankin was taken by ambulance to Lawrence General Hospital and then airlifted to a Boston Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Haverhill School Superintendent Margaret Marotta confirmed the teen was a Haverhill High School senior. She said counselors are available to support students, staff and community, and the school will remain open this afternoon. She added a memorial is planned for later this week.

An investigation is underway by Haverhill Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section. No charges have been filed as of news deadline.
