Stephen W. Merritt, 28, passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on September 18 in Haverhill.
Born in Haverhill, Merritt was the beloved son of Christine (Ryan) Rodriguez and the late Richard C. Merritt. He was raised and educated in Haverhill and attended Haverhill High School. A talented mechanic, Merritt was always working on his motorcycles and dirt bikes. He enjoyed camping and fishing with friends and family. He was a friend to all who knew him and he gave of himself to anyone who needed help. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be missed by all who loved him.
Merritt is survived by his beloved mother Christine Rodriguez and her husband John Rodriguez of Bradford, his grandmother Frances Ryan of Haverhill, aunts Michelle Sheppard and her husband John of Raymond, N.H., Joanne Lemieux of Haverhill, Theresa J. Caruso and her husband Paul T. of Dracut, Michelle Rajotte and her husband Michael Wittrien of San Antonio, Texas, uncles Michael A. Goodrich of Florida, Gary F. Goodrich and his wife Lauren of Lunenburg, Carl A. Rajotte, Jr., cousins Nichole Haga and her partner Thomas Grullart of Kingston, N.H., Danielle Haga of Raymond, N.H., and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Richard C. Merritt.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 2-5 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home at 5 p.m. Burial will be private.
