Haverhill Police and Fire Departments are investigating a car fire at the same home that received gunshot damage a week ago Sunday and where a drug raid took place in 2015.
Officials responded to a fire report around 11:30, Tuesday night, at 257 Lowell Ave., near the Westgate shopping plaza. Capt. Stephen R. Doherty, police spokesman, said an SUV-style car parked at the address received minor damage. WHAV was at the scene and found police placing numbered markers on the ground as part of its investigation.
“We’re investigating a fire that occurred outside that address,” Doherty said.
A white police armored vehicle that had been parked at the scene was not present Tuesday night at the address.
Fire Chief William F. Laliberty was not available for comment.
Last week, police found “various shots fired that struck the house in numerous areas.” No injuries were reported at the single-family cape-style home. Officers blocked the street and detoured automobiles around the area for at least two hours.
In 2015, Haverhill Police descended on the property just opposite Hadley West Drive to execute a search warrant connected to a narcotics unit investigation. As WHAV reported at the time, Meagan Oliver of Haverhill, Hector Negron of Lawrence, James Silva of Plaistow, N.H. and Brad Barber of Raymond, N.H., were arrested and charged with possession of Percocet. Police also seized $2,100 in cash said to be drug proceeds.
