A teenager and a young adult were both injured in separate pedestrian accidents on Main Street early Monday night.

The conditions of the unidentified 18-year-old and 24-year-old were not known as of 11 p.m. The first accident took place shortly after 8 p.m. on Main Street near Fifth Avenue, while the second took place about 10 minutes later near the same spot. Each were struck by passing automobiles and taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Initial reports from the scene suggested at least one serious injury.

Haverhill Police Capt. Stephen J. Doherty Jr. told WHAV police have no suspects yet. Carrie Kimball Monahan, spokeswoman for Essex County District Attorney Jonathan W. Blodgett, said Tuesday morning no deaths have been reported and no arrests have been made.

Traffic was detoured around the area for several hours as police conducted their investigations.
