A 29-year-old Pilling Street man was arrested and charged with assault to murder after a neighbor dispute over a parking space escalated into a fight involving a knife.

Lukas Hastings, of 83 Pilling St., was taken into custody by Officer William David near his home just before 4 p.m. on September 8, according to an arrest log. Police say Hastings allegedly brandished a knife and stabbed the other person during the altercation.

This weekend’s arrest is not the first for Hastings, who was cited in 2015 for undisclosed violations in connection with a rollover crash into three parked cars on River Street.

According to a police incident report, Hastings was behind the wheel of a 1996 Chevrolet and attempted to go left around a vehicle turning left in front of Giovanni’s Diner at 558 River St. Hastings drove onto a soft shoulder and struck the diner’s business sign before his vehicle skidded and rolled onto its side, coming to rest against three vehicles parked in a lot at Danny’s Auto Sales, 554 River St.

Hastings was also arrested on a class A drug possession charge in March 2015.
