Catherine Mary (Richard) Cook, 61, Inspector at Haverhill’s Vernon Plastics

Catherine Mary (Richard) Cook, 61, a longtime resident of Merrimac, died peacefully in Haverhill after a courageous battle with breast cancer, surrounded by her loving and supportive family.

Born on Feb. 25, 1957, in Bath, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the only daughter of five children of Alexander J. and Noella (Dionne) Richard of Merrimac and had attended Pentucket Regional High School in West Newbury.

For many years, she worked as a quality control inspector at Vernon Plastics in Haverhill.

In addition to her parents, Cook also leaves behind her husband Timothy Cook of Merrimac, her two sons William Castine of Merrimac and Jeremiah Routhier and wife Stacey of Haverhill; her brothers Jacques Richard and wife Brigitte of Frankfurt, Germany, Malcolm Richard and wife Patricia of Merrimac and Bernard Richard and wife Letitia of Riverdale, Ga., along with several nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends, all of whom loved her dearly and carry many fond memories of wonderful times – memories that will be treasured forever. She was predeceased by her infant brother Roger Richard.

A memorial service will be held at Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main St., Merrimac, on Friday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. followed by burial in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac.
