Sam Busa, 90, Businessman Active in Haverhill Civic Groups

Sam Busa, 90, passed away on Saturday morning, September 8, at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington surround by his family.

Busa was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was the son of the late Conchetta (Gummo) and Joseph Busa. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Brooklyn and has been a resident of Bradford for 55 years.

He was employed as a butcher for 45 years and changed careers and became an entrepreneur and self-employed businessman. He served in the Korean War and was a committee board member of Northern Essex Community College and member of the Lions Club for 20 years.

His surviving family members include his loving wife Helen of 65 years, his daughters Diane and husband Steve Brown of Fremont, N.H., Jane and husband John DiVicenzo of Haverhill, Carol and husband Jim of Seabrook, N.H., Pamela and husband Simon Ackerman of Hampstead, N.H., a son Paul Busa of Haverhill, eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, siblings John Busa, Tony Busa, Fred Busa, Angelo Busa, and Mary Mont and several nieces and nephews.
He was an avid golfer who had a passion for faceting gemstones and designing jewelry as a lifetime hobby. He was a great man and will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 South Main St., Haverhill from 4-7 p.m. Services will be Friday in the funeral home beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial with U.S. Army Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
