Athena (Avalakis) Kyricopoulos, 93, Worked at Family-Owned Bannon’s Spa

Athena (Avalakis) Kyricopoulos, 93, of North Andover and formerly of Haverhill, died Sunday, Sept. 2 at her residence.

She was born in Haverhill on Oct. 9, 1924, the daughter of the late Arthur and Jenny (Sgouras) Avalakis-Kitsopoulos.

Kyricopoulos worked for most of her life at various shoe shops in Haverhill and for a short time at the former Western Electric, and then along with her husband at the family -owned Bannon’s Spa as well as P&A Package Store before retiring.

She was a lifelong member of the Holy Apostles Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox of Haverhill.

The wife of the late Peter Kyricopoulos, mother of the late Peter Kyricopoulos, step-daughter of the late James Kitsopoulos and sister of the late Rita Stroumbos, Mary Tzitzon, Georgia Psarros Calliope Vatoseow and Irene Folopoulos.

She is survived by son James Kyricopoulos of Bridgewater, brother Chris Kitsopoulos and his wife Betty of Viera, Fla., granddaughter Danielle and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family with burial in Haverhill’s Linwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill & Bradford.
