Local anti-drug advocacy group Haverhill Against Heroin plans to mark Friday’s Overdose Awareness Day with an event at the city’s GAR Park from 5-7 p.m.

Group founder Christina Mazzone tells WHAV the group plans to create posters in support of loved ones and use the event as a way to band together and let others know they do not need to suffer in silence.

“I hope people get a little peace and hope from our event. We want to let them know they are not alone,” Mazzone said.
