James R. ‘ Jimmy’ Talarico, 77, Mechanical Engineer

James R. “Jimmy” Talarico, 77, of Plaistow, N.H., passed away peacefully on August 23 in Haverhill. Born and raised in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Constantine and Flora (Zamarchi) Talarico. A graduate of Haverhill Trade School’s class of 1959, Talarico worked many years at Avco Missile Systems as a mechanical engineer and retired from Textron.

An avid deer hunter and fisherman, he co-owned a lobster boat in Kennebunkport, Maine, with good friend and hunting buddy Don LaPointe. After retirement, he and his wife, Marge, spent winters in Pine Island, Fla., where he first fished by boat and later enjoyed fishing off the Bokeelia Pier with friends Roland Demers, Dan Schneider and Tony Riccio. He loved to teach others how to fish and always had an enthusiastic story to share of his fishing experiences. He found pleasure in cooking and having guests at his table. More than anything, Talarico was a big-hearted guy who truly loved helping family and friends.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years Marjorie (Welch), sons Mark and Todd Talarico of Plaistow, N.H., brother, Robert Talarico and his wife Celeste of Naples, Maine, and grand-dog Chevy.

Relatives and friends are invited to services on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill. The family will receive guests at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Talarico’s memory to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill.
