Ahead of the extreme temperatures forecast for the Merrimack Valley this week, Superintendent Margaret Marotta has announced plans to dismiss students early on both Tuesday, Aug. 28—the first day of school—and Wednesday, Aug. 29 of this week.

Haverhill High will be dismissed at 10:30 a.m., with the middle schools, Consentino and Hunking letting out at 11:05 a.m. Elementary students will wrap up their school days at 11:35 a.m., Marotta’s office said.

Kindergarten screening appointments will still occur as scheduled this week.

YMCA programs will commence as planned as soon as school lets out on the early dismissal days.

All Haverhill Public Schools are closed next Monday, Sept. 3 and Tuesday, Sept. 4 due to the Labor Day holiday and to accommodate the primary election.
