Kathy Rurak and Rosemary Young have been especially active in getting the vote out for local democrats, and the women will be celebrated by their peers on the Haverhill Democratic City Committee during a breakfast downtown at Maria’s Restaurant on Saturday.

Both Rurak, the wife of former Haverhill mayor James Rurak, and HDCC’s Events Chair Young will be named “Distinguished Democrats” in recognition of their contributions to the committee, Chairman William D. Cox Jr. tells WHAV.

Also on Saturday between 10-11:30 a.m., a meet and greet with candidates for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state and other regional and state legislative seats takes place.

A handful of tickets still remain, and can be reserved by emailing Roz at [email protected]. Each $25 ticket serves as a vote in the straw poll for all contested races.
