Marie (Sapienza) (Foucault) Dawes, 84

Marie (Sapienza) (Foucault) Dawes, 84, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at the Academy Manor in Andover surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 4, 1934 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late John and Sadie Sapienza. She moved to Lawrence as a small child where she was educated. After graduation she met and married her first husband, Patrick Foucault and moved to Bradford where she raised her four sons, Russell, Gregory, David and Brian.

Dawes worked various small jobs in the Merrimack Valley area, but mostly was a stay at home mom raising her sons. She remarried on June 2, 1990 to Bill Dawes, with whom she shared many memories until her passing. She enjoyed cooking for her family and especially making her sauce for Sunday dinner. The couple enjoyed their time together, which included going for rides to the beach, which was her favorite place. She also enjoyed shopping, going to the movies, and Bill’s gigantic vegetable gardens. Bill was a very dedicated husband during his wife’s 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

In addition to her husband, Dawes is survived by her loving sons Russell Foucault of Bradford, Gregory Foucault and wife Cindy of Haverhill, David Foucault of Bradford, Brian Foucault and wife Lisa of Atkinson, N.H. and grandchildren Liliana and Chloe Foucault of Haverhill and Ryan Foucault of Pelham, N.H. She was the sister of the late Louie Sapienza. The Foucault/Dawes family would like to take the opportunity to thank Academy Manor in Andover, and Hospice for the countless acts of kindness over the past 10 years. She will be sadly missed by all who love her.
