Vincent ‘Vinnie’ S. Francescone, 76, Former History Teacher

Vincent “Vinnie” S. Francescone, 76, passed away on August 12 in Haverhill after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Henry V. and Florence M. (DeFlorio) Francescone. Raised and educated in Haverhill, Francescone was a graduate of Haverhill High School’s class of 1960. He graduated from Lowell State College with a degree in Education and later attended Salem State College where he received his master’s degree.

An avid Civil War buff, Francescone was a dedicated sixth grade history teacher for many years in the Salisbury Public School system. He loved saltwater fishing, boating, golfing, traveling the world, Hodgies, Park Lunch fried clams, and the beach. Never one to shy away from good food, he was known for his “Italian extravaganzas” at the beach that embodied the Italian ideals of mangia! Bringing people together was his forte. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Francescone is survived by his children, Stephan E. Francescone and his wife Christina, Katrina M. Francescone, their mother, Elsa Francescone, his daughter, Carrie A. Weinert and her husband Larry, his brother, Henry “Hank” Francescone and his wife Sylvia and two nieces, Gina Weishaupt and Jessica Prescott.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Aug. 19 at The Garibaldi Club, 86 Washington St., Haverhill, from 1-4 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “The Garibaldi Scholarship Fund” at 86 Washington St., Haverhill, MA 01830. Arrangements are by the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill.
