With less than 30 days to go until the congressional primary election, time is almost up for Haverhill residents to register to vote.

Haverhill City Clerk Linda Koutoulas encourages locals interested in casting a ballot this fall to make sure their voter registration is up to date no later than Wednesday, Aug. 15. New voters may submit registrations in the clerk’s office at City Hall, 4 Summer St., until 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

The City of Haverhill also seeks paid poll workers to assist with election efforts in both September and November. Poll workers must be registered to vote and live in Massachusetts, with preference given to Haverhill residents. Applications for poll inspector, clerk and warden positions are available online or at the clerk’s office in room 118 of City Hall.

The congressional primary election on Sept. 4 determines the democratic challenger vying to succeed outgoing congresswoman Niki Tsongas. That candidate takes on republican Rick Green in the November election on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
