Road Rage Incident, Alleged Knife Assault Leads to Arrest of Andover Man

Andover Police arrested a town resident late Thursday morning after a road rage incident escalated to an alleged assault with a dangerous weapon.

Spokesman Lt. Edward Guy told WHAV 26-year-old Stevens Street resident Alessandro Cabral was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon after getting into a heated confrontation with another driver the intersection of Shawsheen Road and Stevens Street Thursday around 11:30 a.m.

The two women Cabral was with punched the male driver before Cabral brandished and started swinging a knife, Guy said. A witness called police and photographed the incident, resulting in Cabral’s arrest.

Cabral is set for arraignment in Lawrence District Court Friday. The two women involved will be summonsed into court on assault and battery charges, according to Guy.
