Carl ‘JJ’ Judson, 43, Former Groveland Firefighter

Carl “JJ” Judson, 43, formerly of Groveland, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 29, exiting the world as he lived in it, with quiet, dignified grace.

Born in Haverhill on March 17, 1975, he was the son of Carl and Sandra (Saunders) Judson. Judson grew up in Groveland, where he was an active and respected member of the Groveland Fire Department. He moved to Palm Bay, Fla., in 2016 where he was employed by Stellar Transportation as a dispatcher and quickly became a respected and popular figure.

A natural athlete, Judson excelled as an elite hockey goaltender. He enjoyed watching hockey games with friends and family. His true joy in life however, was watching his beloved daughters, Abigail and Steffanie, figure skate and perform on stage. They inherited his abilities to skate and perform in front of an audience.

With a big laugh, bigger smile, and always ready with a witty comeback, he made you feel genuinely fortunate to be part of his life.

Judson is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Christine Judson, daughters Abigail and Steffanie Judson, parents Carl and Sandra Judson, brother Daniel Judson, and his mother, and father-in-law Maria and Wayne Carlson, several aunts, uncles, cousins and many grieving and loyal friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours at Haverhill’s Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. to be followed by burial at Riverview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Judson’s name to PKD Foundation, 1001 East 101st Terrace, #220, Kansas City, MO 64131.
