Pauline T. (Gagnon) (Beland) Clough, 88, Groveland’s Senior of the Year

Pauline T. (Gagnon) (Beland) Clough, 88, a 57-year Groveland resident, died peacefully Friday night, July 27, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill.

Born in Worcester, daughter of the late Napoleon and Orea (St. Onge) Gagnon, she was raised and educated in Methuen and graduated from Searles High School. She was employed at Bell Labs in North Andover for many years as an executive secretary.

Clough was a longtime and active member and volunteer of Saint John the Baptist Parish of Haverhill. She was also a longtime volunteer for the Groveland Council on Aging and the Greater Haverhill/Greater Lawrence road to recovery and reach to recovery programs. She helped to coordinate rides for elderly needing services in Boston and cancer patients receiving treatments and was designated as one of Former President George H. W. Bush’s Points of Light. Several years ago, she was named as Groveland’s Senior of the Year for her well known efforts for the elderly.

Accomplished at Japanese Bunka, she was awarded “Best in Show” at the Topsfield Fair. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling around the globe with her late first husband and dancing at the Methuen Senior Center. She was also a lover and advocate for animals and devoted to her two dogs “Brandy” and “Lucky.”

Predeceased by her first husband, Ernest L. Beland in 1993, she leaves her husband of 19 years, Donald A. Clough, a sister Lorraine (Gagnon) (Imonti) DuFresne of Methuen; two step-sons and their wives, Eric M. and Victoria Clough of Beverly Hills, Mich., and Jeff and Katie Clough of Loudon, N.H.; step-daughter and her husband, Lynn and David Kimball of Methuen; four step-grandchildren, Brian Kimball, Greg Kimball, Michael Clough and Stephanie Clough; four step-great-grandchildren, Adam, Aaron, Cora and Dexter; and a nephew and his wife, Roger and Marcelle Imonti of Haverhill.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday, July 31, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral takes place Wednesday, Aug. 1, .at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Baptist Church, Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery Mauseleum will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen.
