Jacqueline “Jackie” (Mathon) Gaumont, 92, Musician

Jacqueline “Jackie” (Mathon) Gaumont, 92, of Haverhill and formerly of Lawrence and Salem, N.H., died Monday morning, July 23, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Granby, Quebec, Canada, Dec. 16, 1925, daughter of the late Henry and Corinne (Scott) Mathon. Her family moved to Lawrence and she was educated in the Lawrence school system, graduating from Lawrence High School.

A devout Catholic, Gaumont regularly attended St. Basil Seminary, Methuen, and the former St. Frances Seminary, Andover. A gifted musician, she enjoyed singing as well as playing piano and harmonica.

She was the wife of the late Eugene Gaumont who died in 2008, mother of the late Pauline Berube who died in 2007, grandmother of the late Michael Berube and sister of the late Therese Bartlett.

Her survivors include two daughters, Renee Dube and her husband Ronald of Haverhill, with whom she lived, Denise Faucher and her husband Michael of Salem, N.H.; son, Andre Gaumont of Worcester; sister, Diane Atspins and her husband John of Methuen; son-in-law, Richard Berube of Pelham, N.H.; six grandchildren, Kimberly Niziak, Melissa Ash, Kristen Makiej, Cynthia Rivas, Ryan Timony and Katelyn Faucher; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her graveside service Saturday morning, July 28, at 11 a.m., in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lawrence. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
